General CE In-person Offering: The Impact of Substance Use Diseases and Addiction on Patients, Family and the Community

Description:  The purpose of this program is to educate nurses on the public health dilemma of the drug crisis and the impact on the medical profession, patients, families and the community.  This program will include the pathophysiology of addiction, nursing considerations in caring for patients suffering from the disease of addiction, perspective of the family and victim, and the stressors/challenges that can create a pathway to substance use and addiction.  This program will also discuss the stigma associated with the disease of substance use disorder and addiction.
