Dear Western Mass. RN,
My name is Patti Healey, a Registered Nurse, wife, mother of three and caregiver to elderly parents. I am also a working nurse and Chair of Region 1, MNA. As a full-time ICU nurse for almost 30 years, I have witnessed the profound changes in the way we care for our patients and practice nursing. Working as RNs in the hospital environment has become increasingly challenging and affects not only our work lives, but also our lives outside of the workplace. As members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association, the leading voice of nurses, we have been able to make positive changes in our profession. Now, the MNA is offering an exciting new opportunity for you to join the largest professional RN organization in Massachusetts. The Associate Membership is available to all RNs who want to get involved in working to find solutions to the many problems that affect us as nurses and the quality of care we provide. Associate Members also have access to many of the benefits and resources that MNA union nurses enjoy. Already over 2000 nurses in Western Massachusetts are members of the MNA and enjoy the benefits of union representation. We have a strong voice in meeting with legislators, rallying for safe patient care, attending professional conferences, clinical programs, health and safety workshops and media training. I invite you to join us as we change the landscape of nursing in Massachusetts by having a united, strong voice for nurses, our patients and our community. As working nurses, parents, and caregivers, we know how valuable your time is, but please take a few minutes to look over this information about the MNA Associate Membership Program. I am sure you will agree, together we can make a real difference. For more information contact us at MNA Region One, call me directly at 413.584.4607, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
