MNA/NNU Seeks Volunteers to Assist in Promoting Our Call for Safe RN Staffing at the Democratic State Convention

Hi, this is Donna Kelly-Williams, Presidentof the MNA.  I wanted to give you an update on our plans to pass a new law to require safe RN staffing levels in all Massachusetts hospitals.

The Sign Plus 9 campaign we have started has been a great success to date.  We are asking you to pledge to sign our petition, plus recruit 9 friends, neighbors or family members to sign.

We need to reach out to as many people as we can — and have a great opportunity coming up.  In less than 2 weeks, this year’s Democratic State Convention will be held in Lowell at the Tsongas Center, on Saturday, July 13th.

This will be terrific opportunity to get our story out to thousands of political activists from around the state, and to tell leaders of the party why staffing levels and patient safety is important to everyone.

We are putting our convention plans together now: Let us know if you are currently a delegate to the convention or if you are willing to volunteer at the convention and help spread the word. Any amount of time on Saturday is appreciated so please let us know what time between 7am to 3pm you can be there.

To confirm your availability call Jeanine Hickey at the MNA offices at 781-830-5739 or email her at jhickey@mnarn.org

Thank you for your help and we look forward to convincing the voters why staffing levels and patient safety are essential.

Donna Kelly Williams

PS  To be successful with our Sign Plus Nine campaign, it is critically important that each and every nurse be engaged in this effort and that we all work together to ensure that hospitals have appropriate staffing levels with safe patient limits to ensure quality patient care.  If you are not yet a part of the campaign at your hospital and want to support it, please contact Jeanine above.
