2021 Speakers

Sara Nelson is an American union leader who serves as the international president of the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA, AFL-CIO. A United Airlines flight attendant since 1996, she previously served as AFA's international vice president for a term beginning January 1, 2011.

Harold Cox is Associate Dean for Public Health Practice and Associate Professor of Community Health Sciences at Boston University School of Public Health. Trained as a social worker, he has extensive experience in direct services, administration, and advocacy in a variety of public health care settings, including developmental disabilities, HIV/AIDS, and governmental public health.

Terry M. Foster has been a nurse for over 40 years. He started his healthcare career as an LPN and has worked as a Front-line nurse in the ER and Critical Care areas. Terry has authored more than 35 professional
publications in various textbooks, nursing, and healthcare journals. He has lectured on a wide variety of clinical topics at nursing seminars and conferences throughout the USA, having given a total of over 2000 formal
presentations, covering all 50 states by the time he turned 50 years old. Primarily lecturing on clinical emergency and critical-care nursing topics, he has regularly taught CEN and CCRN nursing certification exam reviews since 1985. Nationally he is a well-known and sought after speaker.

Ayanna Soyini Pressley has served the people of Massachusetts as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts’s 7th congressional district since 2019. Her district includes the northern three quarters of Boston, most of Cambridge, and parts of Milton, as well as all of Chelsea, Everett, Randolph, and Somerville. Congress Woman Pressley was previously elected as an at-large member of the Boston City Council in 2010. She was the first Black woman elected to the Boston City Council and is currently the first Black woman elected to Congress from Massachusetts. The Congresswoman is an advocate, policy-maker, an activist, and a survivor. She believes that “the people closest to the pain should be closest to the power and the diversity of voices in the political process is essential to crafting more effective public policy”.

Chemical Sensitivity: Attendees are requested to avoid wearing scented personal products when attending the 2018 MNA Convention. Scents may trigger responses in those with chemical sensitivity.

Contact Hours: Contact hours will be provided for three of the educational sessions for this two day conference (Impact of Violence, Marijuana & Massachusetts, and How can I love my job). These programs meet the requirements of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for a total of 5.1 contact hours for re-licensure. In terms of specialty certification, these programs will provide a total of 4.25 contact hours. MNA is accredited as a provider of nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

To successfully complete a program and receive contact hours, you must: 1) sign in, 2) be present for the entire time period of the session, and 3) complete the evaluation.
