Massachusetts Teachers Association Supports Brigham Nurses

A letter to Donna Kelly-Williams, president of the Massachusetts Nurses Association in support of the 3,300 Brigham nurses:

Dear Donna,

I am pleased to inform you that on Saturday, June 18, the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Teachers Association voted unanimously to support the nurses of Brigham and Women’s in their struggle for a fair contract and safe working conditions.

We understand that your struggle for patient safety and a fair contract is critical to the well-being of our communities.  As well, we see ourselves in the fight against management efforts to undermine union power, dismiss worker knowledge and expertise, deny the profound human element of your work, and extract more work for less compensation in lean production models.

The Massachusetts Teachers Association honors your willingness to stand up for your rights, and in so doing for all working people, and joins in solidarity with you.

Sincerely,

Barbara Madeloni

President
