2005
This month Governor Romney
issued his Fiscal Year 2006 budget vetoes.
Several
of these vetoes affect
Unit 7 members.
State Employee Health Insurance
Line-item 1108-5200
The Governor vetoed language that would revert
back the state employee health insurance contributions
at 85% state, 15% employee effective January 1,
2006.
Worcester and Westboro State Hospitals
Line-item 5095-0015
The Governor vetoed language included by the State
Legislature that the Legislature must approve of
the closure of Westboro or Worcester State Hospital.
This veto gives the Governor unilateral power to
close these hospitals.
DMR Facilities
Line-item 5930-1000
The Legislature included language that gives the
House and Senate Ways and Means Committee approval
power of any plan(s) to transfer clients out of
the DMR facilities. The Governor vetoed this language.
This veto gives the Governor unilateral power to
reduce the client population of these facilities.
The Massachusetts Nurses Association
will be working to lobby the Legislature to override
these vetoes.
You can help! Contact your state legislators
and ask them to override these budget vetoes
by the Governor.
The Legislature may be taking up
the override votes on these vetoes VERY
SOON.
Your Legislators need to hear from you RIGHT
