MNA Educational Video on Nurses and Political
Action
Nearly everything
nurses do and every problem nurses confront in their daily practice, including
problems associated with nurse staffing levels, is influenced by and can be
addressed by the political process. To help educate nurses on the role
and value of political action in protecting their practice, their patients and
their profession, the MNA has created a new 12-minute video entitled, “If
You Want Safe Staffing: Get Political.” The video features interviews
with politically active nurses and legislators discussing why nurses need to
become politically involved, with specific examples of steps nurses can take
to impact the political process – from writing letters and visiting legislators
and providing information - to becoming involved in political campaigns of candidates
who are supportive of nurses’ issues.
