Q:Where can I find information about the role of
the registered nurse in the delegation of nursing activities?
This
publication supports decision-making ability, responsibility
and accountability of the nurse in defining and determining
his or her individual scope of practice.
Q:Is there a form that can be used to document unsafe
staffing?
A:
Yes. There is an MNA unsafe staffing form that
can be downloaded by clicking on one of the links below.
If you are not represented by the MNA at your place of
employment it is important to be aware of the consequences
of your decision to accept or refuse the work assignment.
See step 2 in Accepting, Rejecting
and Delegating an Assignment: A Guide for Nurses.
You
will need to make 3 COPIES
of the form. Keep one for your records, give one to
your administrator, and send one to your union representative
at:
Massachusetts
Nurses Association 340
Turnpike Street Canton,
MA 02021
These
forms are used to document staffing problems in bargaining
units and are used by your union representatives in
meetings with management as a tool to resolve staffing
problems.
Q:Does the registered nurse have a duty to report
certain activities?
Q:I have a question that is not covered by the above
responses. How can I submit my question and receive an
answer?
A:
Please e-mail your questions to Dorothy McCabe at dmccabe@mnarn.org
or call her at 781.830.5714. If you
do not require an immediate answer to your question, it
will be reviewed by the Congress on Nursing Practice which
meets monthly on the fourth Monday of the month.
