Continuing
Education Programs
The
Congress on Nursing Practice participates in on-going continuing education
programs provided by the Massachusetts Nurses Association that are available to registered nurse groups upon request,
i.e.:
- Medication Errors: Focus on Prevention
1.8 contact hours
This program describes the complexity of the medication system in acute care
facilities. It utilizes the information from the Mass. Coalition for the
Prevention of Medical Errors, the Institute of Medicine Report, "To
Err is Human" and the JCAHO Medication Management standards for 2004.
It is designed for clinical practitioners involved in medication systems
to assess and review their system according to national standards and make
improvements to improve the safety of their medication systems.
- A Primer on Accepting, Rejecting and
Delegating a Work Assignment
1.2 Contact hours
This program provides a framework for decision making based on the Nurse
Practice Act and other regulatory agencies to safeguard nursing practice
and patient care. Case situations are discussed utilizing algorithms of delegation
and Accepting/Rejecting an assignment. Included in the presentation is distribution
of the publication Accepting, Rejecting and Delegating a Work Assignment:
A Guide for Nurses.
Massachusetts Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
