Picket by MNA Nurses at Cooley Dickinson Averted

NORTHAMPTON, MA – An informational picket by the registered nurses of Cooley Dickinson Hospital (CDH) that was scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 4 – 6 p.m. has been averted thanks to a recent eleventh-hour negotiation session that led to the settlement of two remaining key issues.

The nurses, who are represented by the Massachusetts Nurses Association/National Nurses United, completed what was likely their final negotiation session with management late last Friday; “agreements in principal” were reached on the long-outstanding issues of unpaid overtime and safe patient assignments for charge nurses.

Details of the agreement are expected to be announced as soon as members have had an opportunity to completely review the pending tentative agreement. From there, a vote to ratify the agreement by all nurses in the hospital’s MNA bargaining unit will be scheduled.
