A Suffolk jury yesterday found Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center negligent in the death of a premature baby, awarding her parents $11.4 million, including interest — the state’s largest jury award so far this year, according to the family’s lawyer.
Katherine Bellerose and her twin sister were patients at the hospital’s neonatal unit when she died in 2004 of necrotizing enterocolitis, a bowel infection condition that primarily affects premature babies.
