MNA Members Urged to Attend Rally Outside Sen. Scott Brown’s Office on June 28th

To Demand That He Support Needed Funding for Massachusetts

By Andi Mullin, MNA Director, Division of Legislation and Government Affairs

As many of you may know, almost $700 million in federal funding for Massachusetts is being held up by Republican Senators in Washington, including our own Senator Scott Brown.  Even as I write this, the Commonwealth’s FY’11 state budget is being eviscerated by funding cuts that will have to be implemented because Scott Brown and other Republicans are voting against this money.  Both private and public health care institutions will be affected by these cuts, which will inevitably lead to reductions in care for sick patients and job loss for health care workers.

Scott Brown said he would go to Washington and be an independent voice for Massachusetts, yet his persistent votes against this funding for Massachusetts will harm the very people who elected him.  He needs to hear from us!  The MNA is joing a broad coalition of labor unions, community organizations, seniors, and religious advocacy organizations to bring this message to Senator Brown.

The rally will be on Monday, June 28th at noon at the JFK Federal Building at the Senator’s office. Click here to download a flyer about this event.

We would like to have a strong showing of MNA folks.  Please send an e-mail to amullin@mnarn.org, if you’d like to attend this event and insure that the Senator hears your voice!
