UMMC NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

MANAGEMENT REFUSES UNION OFFER

In negotiations today your negotiating committee put forward a groundbreaking proposal in an effort to move negotiations forward. We proposed a new wage scale that we tied to management withdrawing their concessionary proposals on:

  • Deletion of our Defined Pension Plan
  • Reduction in benefit time
  • Increasing our costs for Health Insurance
  • Ending Union paid time

Our wage proposal is:

  • A three year contract
  • 5% increase each year
  • New step increases at 5% (rather than the present 6.8%)

Management responded saying they would not consider dropping their concessionary demands and that our wage proposal was too expensive. Your negotiating committee was angered by the management response. In our next session on July 14th management will be presenting a counter proposal on wages while they continue to demand concessions.
