Date Set for Hearing on Universal Single Payer Bill for Massachusetts

DATE: Wednesday, June 6, 2001
TIME: Rally @ 9:30am (Grand Staircase) Hearing 10:00am
PLACE: Massachusetts State House

The Massachusetts Legislature's Joint Committee on Health Care has set the date of Wednesday, June 6, for this session's hearing on H.2165/S.599, the Massachusetts Health Care Trust bill. See the MASSCARE website to read the bill - www.masscare.org

We expect to hold a rally, participate in the hearing, and visit state Representatives and Senators during that day. So, mark your calendars now! Begin spreading the word! And look for more information about this extremely important day!

The MNA is a long-time supporter of a single payer approach to health care financing and is a long time member of MASSCARE, a coalition of more than 70 organizations supporting this legislation. Studies have shown that a single payer system is not only a viable alternative, but an affordable alternative to the current corporatized, market-driven, deregulated catastrophe that is the current model of health care delivery in the Commonwealth. To learn more about why nurses support single payer, visit the Single-Payer page of the MNA web site.
