Brockton Hospital Nurses Strike-Related Events
Federal Mediator Calls Parties Back to the Table: June 12,
2001, 10 a.m. (Location of Talks to be Determined). This
will be the first round of talks since the strike began on May
25th.
Wednesday, June 6, 2001, 7-9 p.m.: Brockton Nurses' Solidarity
Rally at St. Margaret's Parish Center, 891 Montello St.,
Brockton. The nurses will meet together as a group for an update
on the strike, to obtain information, and to hear from local
community and state leaders who support them in their struggle.
Congressional Candidate and State Senator Stephen F. Lynch from
South Boston, as well as Candidate for Congress State Senator
Marc Pacheco (D-Taunton) a member of the Joint Committee on Health
Care will speak at the rally.
Thursday, June 7, 2001, Between 9 and 9:30 a.m.: Democratic
Candidate for Governor Steve Grossman will be on the strike line
with Brockton Nurses. Candidate Grossman is the former chair
of the Democratic National Committee, former chair of the Mass.
State Democratic Party and is currently the CEO of Mass. Envelope
of Somerville.
Sunday, June 10, 2001, Noon – 4 p.m.: Brockton Hospital Nurses' "Solidarity
Picnic & Picket" on the Strike Line. The MNA is hosting
a barbecue for the nurses and their families, which is open to
the community, other unions and advocacy groups, political leaders
and local officials. Music and entertainment will be provided,
with speeches and other expressions of support to be delivered.
