Brockton Hospital Nurses Strike-Related Events
Monday, June 25, 2001, 7:30 9 p.m.: Brockton Hospital
Nurses' Attend City Council Meeting to Appeal for Support. The
nurses will attend tonight's City Council meeting at City Hall
in Brockton to appeal to the Council for their support in using
their influence to convince Brockton Hospital management and Board
of Trustees to negotiate with the nurses to end the 32-day old
strike.
Wednesday, June 27, 2001, 6 9 p.m.: AFSCME Council 93
to Bring Bus of Union Members to Walk the Picket Line While Brockton
Nurses Rally at St. Margaret's Church. Local unions walk the
picket line on Wednesday nights to allow the nurses to attend weekly
rallies away from the strike line. While AFSCME walks the line,
the nurses will be meeting together. Nationally recognized author
on nursing issues Suzanne Gordon will be a featured speaker at
the Rally at St. Margaret's Church, 891 Montello St., Brockton.
Friday Saturday, June 29 at Midnight June 30th
at Midnight: Plymouth County Democratic Committee to Send Delegation
to Walk the Picket Line in Support of the Nurses. The organization
has passed a resolution in support of the nurses and has committed
to walk the line in support of the nurses over this 24-hour period.

Friday, June 29th Sunday, July 8th: Brockton Nurses
Secure Booth to Offer Free Blood Pressure Screening at Brockton
Fair, Reach Out to Public On Issues Behind Strike. The nurses
will be at the fair to meet and greet the public and take blood
pressures throughout the Brockton Fair.
Friday, July 6, 2001, 7:30 10 p.m.: Dance Night for
Safe Care, Brockton Nurse Fundraiser at Knights of Columbus Hall,
254 Hancock St., Abington. The nurses are holding fundraising dance
to raise money for their strike relief fund. The event will feature
a DJ and cash bar with tickets of $5 and all proceeds from ticket
sales going to the nurses' strike relief fund.
