Want to understand why the nurses' are on strike, which is now at Day 81, just read the story, which ran on the front page of the Brockton Enterprise on August 11. The story provides a poignant picture of the issues behind the strike, particularly the Brockton nurses' perspective, who for years have watched the safety of their patients placed in jeopardy every day by an administration that has had no interest in addressing their concerns about unsafe staffing, mandatory overtime and inappropriate floating of nurses. The comments by Mr. Hughes are also instructive, in their callous disregard for the crisis in health care, not only at Brockton Hospital, but as expressed by his industry colleagues. It appears that the only people in Massachusetts who don't see a problem with our health care system work for the management of Brockton Hospital.

As the strike drags on, the nurses continue to remain strong in their conviction to win language in their contract to ensure safe staffing and quality patient care for their patients. To learn how you can support the nurses in their courageous struggle, visit the MNA web site: Brockton Nurses Strike page.
