Mr. David T. Hannan, CEO
South Shore Hospital
55 Fogg Road
S. Weymouth, MA 02190

Dear Mr. Hannan:

At our Town Council meeting of October 2, 2000, the full Council heard from the South Shore Hospital Nurses Organizing Committee their request for Council support regarding their efforts. This presentation was heard during the Citizen Concerns/Council Response segment of the Council agenda for that evening.

Although the Town Council does not take positions between management and employees on these issues, we did agree to remind management on the Town of Weymouth resolve Number 00 012, dated February 7, 2000 which was passed with unanimous vote of the Council. This Resolve refers to Federal law that protects employees' rights to form or join a union. A copy of Resolve Number 00 012 is enclosed.

Sincerely,
John F. Carey
Vice President
