BORN Regulations |
As you know, the Board of Registration in
Nursing is proposing new regulations regarding a Standard
of Conduct for Nurses, Disciplinary Actions and has held hearings
around the state to hear nurses' concerns.
Only about 50 nurses have testified! There
are 100,000 registered nurses! Although many testified on
behalf of organizations, such as the Massachusetts Association
of Nurse Anesthetists and the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse
Practitioners, not enough individual nurses have responded.
Unless you take the time and energy to express your concerns
in writing, these regulations will not change. Therefore,
please use this alert to engage in a letter writing campaign.
The hearing process will be open until October 7, 1999.
The BORN regulations can be found at:
www.state.ma.us/reg/boards/rn/cmrprop/regreorg.htm
The MNA analyses and sample letters can be
found at: www.massnurses.org/News/990800/bornanal1.htm
Letters do not have to be typed, but must
be legible. They must include:
- Your name
- Licensure title (RN, LPN, MD)
- Your years of practice and area of practice
- Your expressed concerns with the regulations
- Your suggestions for change
- Your thanks for recording your written
testimony
- Your address and if desired, phone number.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE NEED FOR YOUR ACTIVITY. ALL NURSES
MUST WRITE TO THE BORN IF THEY ARE TO CONSIDER CHANGING THESE
REGULATIONS.
