MNA Leader Fellows Program Overview

To accomplish its goals, the Program will include the following five components:

A. Program Overview

  • Overview of MNA/ANA
  • Current issues facing nurses and nursing
B. Leadership
  • Leadership Overview
  • Leadership Skills Assessment
C. Communication Skills Workshop designed to
  • introduce participants to a marketing/communication process essential to leaders who will position the Association with respect to issues of concern.
  • provide an opportunity to apply communication skills.
D. Presentation Skills Workshop designed to
  • introduce participants to presentation skills.
  • provide an opportunity to practice presentation skills.

  • MNA Leader Fellows will present an overview of their experiences related to program involvement at the 2001 MNA Convention.

E. Individualized Fellow/Staff Application Experience
    This opportunity will be individually contracted based on each Leader Fellow's unique abilities and professional goals. Each Fellow will be required to design, implement and evaluate a project that will apply the leadership skills each has developed in collaboration with a Department Staff (MNA, District or Unit) Mentor.
A Selection Committee comprised of representatives of the Board of Directors, Districts and MNA Staff will select the MNA Leader Fellows for 2001. At-large and Bargaining Unit members of these Districts may apply. To be eligible, interested members must:
  • be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • currently be an at-large or bargaining unit member of an MNA District and have been one for a minimum of one (1) year.
  • be able to commit ten (10) days within the next calendar year to involvement in the Program.
  • submit a completed application, current resume and one (1) letter of recommendation prior to the deadline of September 15, 2000.
