ACTIVISTS ALERT
Support the UMass University Campus RNs!
Thursday April 27th
5:00 to 6:30 pm
The Boston Park Plaza Hotel
64 Arlington Street
Boston, MA
The RNs at UMass Memorial-University Campus, who
are in the middle of contentious contract negotiations, are seeking
support for a leafleting they are planning outside an awards ceremony
to honor their CEO John O’Brien during the annual dinner of
the Mass. Public Health Association, Thursday, April 27th at the
Park Plaza Hotel.
UMMC management, under the leadership of CEO John
O’Brien has put more than 50 concessions and takeaways on
the table, allowed unsafe staffing conditions to continue unabated,
particularly in the facility’s emergency department, while
putting in place virulently anti-union labor relations staff to
illegally target the nurses’ elected leaders.
In the midst of all of this the Massachusetts Public
Association is honoring O’Brien at "having made a significant
contribution to the promotion and development of public health programs
at the local level in Massachusetts." The nurses want to send
a message to Mr. O’Brien that you can’t claim to support
public health while disrespecting and attacking those who are actually
delivering the care. If you are interested, please join us.
If
you plan on attending, please email enorton@mnarn.org
or call Eileen at 781.830.5777.
