2000 MNA Annual
Convention
President's
Message
On behalf of the
Massachusetts Nurses Associations, I invite you to attend the MNA Convention
2000 being held this year in Boston at the World Trade Center on November 8,
9 & 10. This year’s scheduled programs will cover a wide range of timely
topics including: a discussion of promotion of a respectful work environment
to be offered by the MNA Center for Ethics; a perspective on the politics of
health care provided by Massachusetts Congressman James McGovern (D-Worcester);
a Canadian nurse’s perspective on single payer; and a keynote presentation by
Lucian Leape, MD on medical error prevention.
In addition, all
members are encouraged to attend the annual MNA business meeting at no cost
beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday. This year, during the business meeting, members
present will decide with their vote whether MNA will dissafiliate from the American
Nurses Association. The outcome of that critical vote will undoubtedly set the
future course for MNA and nursing in Massachusetts.
Mark your calendars
now and plan to join us at Convention. For anyone who has never before attended,
I can guarantee you that sharing the experience of Convention with nurses from
across the state will empower and energize you in your practice and remind you
(if you need to be reminded) of what drew you to become a part of the profession
in the first place.
